DevOPS System Administrator

Position Summary – The Opal Health Informatics Group at the Research Institute of the MUHC is looking for an experienced DevOPS System Administrator to join our team. You will be responsible for building and administering in-house development environments, as well as provide assistance to various healthcare institutions to successfully deploy our award-winning Opal solution (opalmedapps.com) which empowers patients with access to their health information.
General Duties:

  • Day to day maintenance and administration of systems
  • Create and maintain automation tools for infrastructure provisioning
  • Create and maintain automation tools for application deployments
  • Create and maintain configuration management tools
  • Ensure systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
  • Assist with solution deployments, including cloud migrations as needed
  • Participate in architecture and software development activities
  • Provide technical guidance and help mentor team members on DEVOPS/DEVSECOPS best practices
  • Manage CI and CD tools with the development team
  • Follow all best practices and procedures as established by the company
  • Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues
  • Write and maintain technical documentation with regards to user access management, backup/recovery, scalability, vulnerability, and patch management
Requirements:

  • Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years previous experience as a system administrator in a production environment
  • Experience with server virtualization and/or cloud technologies; VMWare, XEN, AWS, GCP
  • Experience with Linux, Shell scripting; Bash, Perl, Python
  • Experience administering CI/CD tools such as Git, Jira, GitLab, or Jenkins
  • Experience with containers and container orchestration; docker, kubernetes, open shift
  • Experience with configuration management or deployment automation tools; Terraform, Ansible, Rundeck, Chef, Puppet
  • Experience with databases, such as MariaDB, MySQL is an asset
  • Excellent resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Experience working in highly regulated industry or Healthcare institutions is an asset
Working Conditions:

Status: Temporary, Full-time, 12-month contract, renewable
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education & work experience
Work Shift: Monday to Friday (35-hour workweek)
