Position Summary – The Opal Health Informatics Group at the Research Institute of the MUHC is looking for an experienced senior project manager to join our dynamic multi-disciplinary team.

You will be responsible for managing and coordinating a major research project to advance the development and use of our award-winning Opal patient portal software (opalmedapps.com). You will work with our software development and deployment teams and with a consortium of at least six private companies and several clinician-scientists at the MUHC and Ste-Justine hospitals collaborating with us to build a state-of-the-art data-sharing solution to power the person-centered healthcare system of tomorrow.

As the senior project manager for the consortium, you will be responsible for ensuring that our complex and dispersed group of public and private partners work in concert to deliver results on all project activities. You will report to and work closely with the principal investigator, and work together with the Opal DevSecOps manager and with an external accounting consultant to drive the research project towards its goals. You will develop project tracking systems and work with project management software and software development tools to track progress, provide regular project updates and reports, and provide strategic advice on plan adjustments to stay on target.

General Duties:

  • Provide leadership in planning the project infrastructure and ensuring project milestones and deliverables are achieved with all consortium partners.
  • Participate and contribute in strategic management activities
  • Ensure timely reporting to the Executive and Steering committees and to funding agency partners
  • Organize project team member recruitment, job postings, and hiring processes
  • Responsible for overall budget management, in collaboration with an external accounting consultant
  • Report on budget to verify compliance and actuals over the course of the project
  • Organize committee meetings. Participate in deliberations and decision making of the Executive and Steering committees
  • Organize meetings and manage communications with consortium partners and stakeholders, document and follow-up on action items and deliverables
  • Ensure that the consortium’s webpage and social media pages are kept up to date
  • Perform other duties (administrative) directly related to the research project as required or assigned by the principal investigator
Requirements:

  • MBA or project management certification
  • Experience in IT or healthcare IT is preferred
  • A graduate scientific degree in healthcare and/or life sciences is an asset
  • Able to move projects forward, influence and direct collaborators
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • 8-10 years of related experience (project management) is preferred
  • Experience in multi-institutional grant management, preferably in the health sciences or IT domains and involving private partners (small, medium and multinational enterprises)
  • Comfortable with project management tools
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Solid interpersonal skills
  • Experience reporting on grants, and working within a complex structure
  • Strong grammar, writing and communication skills in both English and French
Working Conditions:

Status: Temporary, Full-time, one year contract, renewable
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education & work experience
Work Shift: Monday to Friday (35-hour workweek)
Work Site: McGill University Health Centre (GLEN site) and remotely (rimuhc.ca/careers)
